Consumer Price Index (CPI)

The indicator measures changes in retail prices of goods and services purchased by householders. The Consumer Price Index includes the price level of food, clothing, education expenses, health, transportation, utilities and leisure. The indicator is calculated monthly and is the main indicator of inflation in a country, including in Australia. It is considered the most important indicator of inflation.
