At iFX EXPO Asia 2026 in Hong Kong, we spoke with representatives of brokerage firms about the development of financial markets, changing trader demands, and the technologies shaping the industry’s future. One of the main topics of the interviews was artificial intelligence — from automating brokers’ internal processes to the new capabilities of the AI Assistant in MetaTrader 5.
Interviewees note that competition in the brokerage market is becoming increasingly intense. Whereas companies used to compete primarily on spreads, commissions, and trading conditions, today the focus is on service quality, the convenience of client services, and the reliability of technological infrastructure. Traders expect fast financial transactions, stable platform performance, the security of their funds, and prompt support.
To meet these requirements, brokers are actively developing their own technologies. Key priority areas include business process automation, improving risk management systems, quote aggregation, and analyzing large volumes of data. Some of the interviewees have already integrated artificial intelligence into the operations of various departments, using it to optimize processes and improve business efficiency.
The built-in AI Assistant in MetaTrader 5 drew particular attention at the exhibition. It enables users to interact with the trading platform in natural language, manage trading operations, analyze market data, and create trading robots without having to write all the code themselves.
Broker representatives view the new capabilities favorably and are considering various use cases. Some companies are already conducting internal testing, discussing features with product teams, and preparing informational campaigns for their clients. In their view, the AI Assistant can make modern trading technologies more accessible, especially for novice traders, who sometimes find it difficult to understand how financial markets and trading instruments work on their own.
Separately, the interviewees touched on issues of trust and security. For traders, it is important not only to have high-quality trade execution, but also to know how the broker ensures the safety of client funds, how quickly it processes withdrawal requests, and whether the trading platform operates reliably. At the same time, interest is growing in additional services, including copy trading and tools that help users make trading decisions. According to representatives of brokerage firms, it is the combination of reliable infrastructure and a wide range of features that creates a comprehensive trading service.
