# Key Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts (also referred to as hotkeys) are keys and their combinations that allow to execute various commands fast and without using menus or toolbars. Keyboard shortcuts can be assigned for calling any element of the [Navigator](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/startworking/interface) window, except for elements of the [Accounts](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/start_advanced/account_manage) group. In order to assign a combination of keys to an element, the "![Set hotkey](https://www.metatrader5.com/i/help/terminal/en/set_hotkey_icon.png) Set hotkey" command of its context menu should be executed.

> Assigned hotkeys are of higher priorities than predefined ones. For example, initially the "Ctrl+O" combination calls the [platform setup](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/startworking/settings) window. If call of the ["On Balance Volume"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/indicators/volume_indicators/obv) indicator is set to the same combination, "Ctrl+O" will not call the platform setup window any more.

Predefined keyboard shortcuts execute various functions depending on what platform interface window is currently active. Some hotkeys execute certain functions independent of focus.

| ![Up Arrow](https://www.metatrader5.com/i/help/terminal/en/arrow_up_icon.png) | Fast chart scroll to the left; in case of a [fixed scale](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_advanced/charts_settings#fixed_scale) — chart scroll upwards. |
| ![Down Arrow](https://www.metatrader5.com/i/help/terminal/en/arrow_down_icon.png) | Fast chart scroll to the right; in case of a fixed scale — chart scroll downwards. |
| NumPad 5 | Restoring of automatic chart vertical [scale](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_advanced/charts_manage#vetical_scale) after its being changed. If the scale was defined, this hot key will return the chart into the visible range. |
| Page Up | Fast chart scroll to the left. |
| Page Down | Fast chart scroll to the right. |
| Home | Move chart to the start point. |
| End | Move chart to the end point. |
| "-" | Zoom out chart. |
| "+" | Zoom in chart. |
| Delete | Delete all selected graphical [objects](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_analysis/objects). |
| Backspace | Delete the latest objects imposed to a chart. |
| Enter | Open/close [fast navigation bar](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/startworking/interface). |

## Keyboard shortcuts for Working with Charts, Independent of the Active Window

| F2 | Open the [Task Manager](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/start_advanced/task_manager). |
| F7 | Call the window with [properties of an EA](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/algotrading/trade_robots_indicators#input) attached to a chart window for changing its settings. |
| F8 | Call the [chart setup](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_advanced/charts_settings) window. |
| F12 | Move chart by one bar to the left. |
| Shift+F12 | Move chart by one bar to the right. |
| Shift+F5 | Switch to the previous [profile](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_advanced/templates_profiles#profiles). |
| Alt+1 | Show chart as a sequence of bars. |
| Alt+2 | Show chart as a sequence of candlesticks. |
| Alt+3 | Show chart as a broken line. |
| Alt+W | Call open chart managing window. |
| Alt+Backspace or Ctrl+Z | Cancel [object](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_analysis/objects) deletion. |
| Ctrl+A | Arrange height of all indicator windows by default. |
| Ctrl+B | Call the ["Objects List"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_advanced/charts_objects_list#objects) window. |
| Ctrl+F | Enable ["Crosshair"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_analysis/charts#datawindow). |
| Ctrl+G | Show/hide grid. |

| Delete | Delete a selected account, Expert Advisor, custom indicator or script. |
| G | Show/hide grid in the "Favorites" tab. |

## Common Actions in the Platform

| Esc | Close dialog windows. |
| F1 | Open the "Userguide" |
| F3 | Open the ["Global variables"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/algotrading/service_global) window. |
| F4 | Start [MetaEditor](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/algotrading/autotrading#metaeditor). |
| F6 | Call the "Tester" window for testing an Expert Advisor attached to a chart window. |
| F9 | Call the ["New Order"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/trading/performing_deals) window. |
| F10 | Open "Quotes Window". |
| F11 | Enable/disable fullscreen mode. The fullscreen mode hides all platform windows except the chart. If you have manually opened additional windows, when you exit and re-enter the fullscreen mode, they will be hidden again while your changes will not be saved. |
| Alt+F4 | Close the platform. |
| Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert | Copy to clipboard. |
| Ctrl+D | Open/close the ["Data Window"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/charts_analysis/charts#datawindow). |
| Ctrl+E | Allow/prohibit [use of Expert Advisors](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/algotrading/trade_robots_indicators). |
| Ctrl+M | Open/close the ["Market Watch"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/trading/market_watch) window. |
| Ctrl+N | Open/close the ["Navigator"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/startworking/interface) window. |

| Ctrl+R | Open/close the "Tester" window. |

| Ctrl+F9 | Open the ["Trade"](https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/trading/performing_deals#position_open) tab in the "Toolbox" window and switch the control focus to it. After that trade activities can be managed using the keyboard. |
