# Producer Price Index (PPI)

The index shows changes in the prices of goods purchased and sold by manufacturers. Because it analyzes changes in price that occur before the good reaches the retail level, it gives an early indication of inflationary pressures consumers will later face for finished goods. The indicator is taken into account by the market, but has a limited impact on the it.
