Purchasing Managers Index (PMI)

The indicator reflects the level of business activity of the industrial sector. PMI is calculated based on the monthly survey conducted in the manufacturing sector and is divided into five sub-indexes: production, employment, new orders, stocks of finished products and delivery. The basic value for the index calculation is 50. Figures above this level indicate expansion of economy. Higher activity in the manufacturing sector generally anticipates economic growth and inflationary pressures.
